Joliet Iron Works Tour10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, November 3, at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Joliet Iron Works Historic Site, located on Columbia Street, 0.25 mile east of Route of the Ruby Street Bridge, Joliet. Discover why Joliet has the nickname “City of Stone and Steel.” Local history buffs will enjoy this insightful tour of the blue-collar origins of this city. Hear the stories of the men who worked at the site and learn about iron and steel production during this fascinating tour. A naturalist will guide you through what remains of this once-thriving industrial plant. Paved walkways are accessible on the 1-mile tour. The free program is for ages 12 and older.
