Powell Archaeological Research Center Clean Up

  • 10/01/2011
  • 9:00 AM
  • Fingerhut House (5500 Collinsville Road, Fairmont City, IL 62201)
The Powell Archaeological Research Center (PARC) will be holding a workday to clean up and clear brush at the Fingerhut House on Saturday, October 1 at starting 9:00 am, however people can come at any time and work for as long as they are able. BUT PLEASE LET US KNOW so we can plan accordingly. IF YOU HAVE CHAIN SAWS, WEED EATERS, or LARGE CLIPPERS, that will help in the brush removal. Wearing work gloves is also advised if you plan on helping with outside work. There will be some inside work for those who prefer not to do outside work.  We will also take a group over to clean up at the East St. Louis lots if people want to go. If we have enough interest, Dr. John Kelly will also give a walking tour of the East St. Louis Mound Group area where PARC has been involved in preserving the site. At the end of the day, we will barbeque at Fingerhut and PARC will provide the food for all the volunteers.  Please contact Kathleen Stahlman  or Cricket Kelly  if you are able to come. We will need a head count for the food. If you would like to bring a side dish for the barbeque, please contact Christa Wroblewski. Bringing a dish is optional, however.

NOTE: Oct. 8 will be our alternate day if the weather is inclement on Oct 1. If Oct 1 looks questionable weatherwise, you can call 618-550-9312 or 618-271-4920 (Fingerhut house) to see if we will be working or postponing to the next weekend.
