The Department of Anthropology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a position in anthropological archaeology at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor with a target start date of August 16, 2017. The appointment is anticipated to be for one year but may be renewed depending on departmental needs and positive performance reviews. This is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure track position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Anthropology PhD in hand by the starting date of the appointment required. Geographic area is open. The successful candidate will teach two courses per semester. Experience teaching undergraduate lecture and discussion courses (including four-field introduction to anthropology, topical courses such as women in prehistory) strongly preferred. Required demonstrated evidence of research including a publication record and an active research agenda related to the position.
