Salary: $37,356 to $61,609 depending on qualifications

Job Summary: The Museum Archeology Program (MAP) has an opening for a project leader for archaeology field research conducted in the state of Wisconsin.  The MAP is an active research branch of the Wisconsin Historical Society.  We conduct all phases of archaeological research in compliance with federal and state historic preservation legislation.  The Archeologist – Project Leader will conduct archaeological field investigations and laboratory analysis of collections, complete technical reports, and make recommendations regarding the impacts on archeological properties from proposed construction projects in the state of Wisconsin.  The Archeologist – Project Leader must meet the standards of a ‘qualified archeologist’ according to the U.S. Secretary of Interior’s Standards and Guidelines (36 CFR 61).  They also must meet the qualifications for an archaeologist to work within a human burial site in Wisconsin as per state statute 157.70.
