The Illinois State Archaeological Survey (ISAS), Prairie Research Institute (PRI) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is seeking a two-year Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Archaeological Collections and Digital Data Management who will work with the ISAS Curator in Midwestern Archaeology.
The researcher will facilitate access to collections and data for ISAS archaeologists and assist in overseeing, organizing, accessioning and supervising the processing, documentation and storage of accessioned materials, written and digital documents, and photographic data. This includes a research component. The candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Museum Studies or Library and Information Sciences with an MA in Anthropology or Archaeology, will also be considered.
The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated knowledge of relational database use and management in a museum or collections management setting. Preference will be given to candidates with a specialization in pre-Columbian Archaeology and artifacts of the American Midwest. This is a full-time benefits eligible position.
